Yes, Modi supplies your electricity. But that’s only part of the story.
When you join Modi, your electricity supply switches to Modi. When your home needs electricity from the grid, we supply it through our partnership with Modstrøm.
Your electricity price is linked to the Danish energy market. And because Modi installs and operates your solar and battery system, your home becomes part of a smarter energy system that can generate value in more ways than one.

Top FAQ’S
What is Modi?
Modi is a new Danish company that puts solar panels and a battery on your house with no upfront cost. The system is ours, and we take care of installation, operation and maintenance. Each month you pay for the electricity you use – and you pay 20% less than you would have on your current electricity deal. Guaranteed.
Who’s behind Modi?
Modi Energy ApS is a local Danish company, founded and run here in Denmark. We only operate in Denmark, and we only work with Danish homes.
Is Modi an electricity company?
Not a traditional one. The electricity itself is supplied together with an established Danish electricity company. Modi takes care of the rest: the system on your house, how it’s controlled, the app and being your point of contact.
What goes on my house – and who owns it?
Solar panels on the roof, a battery and the equipment needed to control the system. Modi owns all of it. We install it, keep an eye on it, maintain it and replace parts if anything breaks. You don’t have to buy or finance anything.
When can I get Modi?
We’re starting with the first 500 homes and begin installing in 2027. Sign up now and you’ll hear from us as soon as we get close to your area. We’ll then look at your house and give you a no-obligation calculation of your saving before anything else happens.
Who installs the system?
Authorised electricians we work with. You have one point of contact – us – before, during and after the installation.
What does it cost?
There’s no upfront cost. You only pay for the electricity your household uses, and you pay 20% less than you would have on your current electricity deal. The saving is calculated on your whole electricity bill – not just the price of the power itself.
How much can I save?
It depends on how much electricity you use. Three examples:
- A family of four in a house with district heating and no electric car (about 5,000 kWh a year): about DKK 1,850 a year
- A family of four in a house with a heat pump and an electric car (about 12,500 kWh a year): about DKK 4,250 a year
- A family of five in a large house with a heat pump and two electric cars (about 20,000 kWh a year): about DKK 6,650 a year
Examples. Calculated with the average total electricity price in DK2 from 1 January to 22 September 2026 (spot price, the electricity company’s mark-up, grid tariff, Energinet’s tariffs, electricity tax and VAT) plus subscriptions. Your actual saving depends on your consumption and the electricity price.
How do I pay?
As a starting point, you pay a fixed amount each month, based on your expected consumption. Once a year – or sooner if your consumption changes a lot – we settle up what you’ve actually used, so you pay neither too much nor too little. You can also choose to pay for your actual consumption each month.
What happens if electricity prices rise?
Your price follows the market, but you always pay 20% less than you would have on your current electricity deal. If prices rise a lot, your fixed monthly amount may be adjusted to match your consumption. You can follow your consumption and your balance in the Modi app.
How can you give a 20% discount?
Because the battery is ours. When your household doesn’t need the power itself, we can use the battery to help the power grid, and that earns us an income. That income is what pays for your saving.
Is Modi right for my house?
Modi is for you if you own your house and don’t have solar panels yet. Unfortunately, flats can’t take part. When we reach your area, we’ll assess whether your roof and house are suitable. If they aren’t, we’ll let you know – and it won’t have cost you anything.
What happens if I move?
The system is fixed to the house, so it doesn’t move with you. Usually the buyer can take over the agreement. Otherwise we take the system down and it goes back to Modi. The terms for early removal are set out clearly in our terms and conditions, which you get before you sign.
How long is the agreement – and can I get out of it?
You get all the terms – including how to end the agreement – in writing before you sign anything. Until then there’s no agreement, and signing up doesn’t commit you to anything.
What happens when I sign up?
You get an email asking you to confirm your signup, and once you’ve confirmed, you’re on the waiting list. We only write to you about Modi, and we’ll get in touch when we get close to your area – that’s what your postal code is for. It isn’t an agreement, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We ask for your name, email and postal code – read more in our privacy policy.
What does “the first 500 homes” mean?
We’re starting by installing Modi in 500 homes, so we can get the experience just right before we expand. You can still sign up even if there are already lots of people on the list – we’ll contact you as we reach your area.
