  • Modi Energy, a new home energy service, makes cheaper, smarter energy accessible to more households in Denmark, with no investment required from the homeowner

  • The service uses solar and battery technology - owned, installed and maintained by MODI Energy - to optimize each home’s energy use against live market prices

  • The system optimizes energy usage in line with market prices and lends unused battery capacity to the grid, guaranteeing customers 20% lower energy costs against the market price

COPENHAGEN, Denmark - 7th October 2026 - Modi Energy, a new home energy service, has today opened for registrations in Denmark, giving homeowners a guaranteed way to cut their energy costs while making smart home energy technologies more accessible.

As the energy system becomes increasingly flexible and renewable, a combination of solar panels and battery storage offers homeowners an opportunity to reduce energy costs and have more control over their consumption. However, upfront hardware costs are a common barrier for many.

Modi Energy has been founded to remove that barrier. The company provides eligible households in Denmark with a fully managed home energy service, installing and operating the solar and battery technology needed to generate and store electricity at no cost to the homeowner. Customers receive electricity through the service for as long as they remain with Modi Energy, without ever needing to purchase or maintain the equipment themselves.

Steffen Bjerregaard, Chairman of Modi Energy, said: “Instead of asking families to invest in solar panels, batteries and increasingly complex energy technology, Modi makes the investment and takes responsibility for operating it. The homeowner gets something much simpler: modern energy technology, no upfront investment and an energy bill that is 20% lower.”

Using Modi Energy’s intelligent energy management software and access to flexibility and ancillary markets, the system optimizes energy usage by storing generated power in the battery when prices are low and deploying it to power the household when prices are high. Any unused battery capacity can also be flexibly traded by Modi Energy to support grid balancing, meaning Modi Energy customers are guaranteed a 20% saving on energy market prices.

Modi Energy’s long-term ambition is to connect 100,000 homes, representing up to 2.4 GW of connected power and 3–4 GWh of distributed energy capacity. Thousands of homes connected can collectively become a large, flexible energy resource that can be traded by Modi Energy as a single asset.

Steffen continued: “One battery helps one family. 100,000 intelligently connected homes can become meaningful energy infrastructure. As Europe electrifies, we believe households can become one of the most important sources of flexibility in the future energy system.”

Modi Energy’s waitlist is now open in Denmark. Homeowners can check eligibility and register their interest at www.modi.energy.
